We have recently been given the opportunity to help an established teacher supply agency recruit a Manager, Team

Leader or a full recruitment team to open a new branch in the Leeds / Sheffield area to complement the other existing branches they have across the UK

This is one of the longest-serving teacher supply agencies with 12 strategic branches dotted across the UK supplying Primary, Secondary, and SEND Teachers and support staff.

Although very well-established they have retained traditional “people” culture when it comes to recruitment. Every recruiter does their job differently, they have KPIs in place for guidance however encourage independent creative thinking, and working

The role has come about due to expansion plans and success with other newly opened branches. There is an initial budget for a manager and two consultants, and an admin/resourcer has already started working for them out of another branch for now laying the candidate foundations for the Yorkshire area.

This role will initially be a billing manager role however once your team and branch are up and running this will lead to a non-billing role. They prefer their managers to eventually not bill as this will give them the freedom to manage and train their staff,  carry out targeted business development activities, and accompany their consultants on client visits

There is a clear management chain, you will report directly to the head of education who is very down to earth, hands-on, and has a wealth of experience in education recruitment having worked with some of the leading and most successful teacher supply agencies in the UK

The right person must be appointed, this would need to be somebody confident in their abilities, can communicate at various levels, and shows leadership and accountability. You will be trusted with your market knowledge of Yorkshire and be given a huge amount of support and autonomy to build a successful branch.

The role is completely open to negotiation there isn’t a one size fits all approach to fill this position.

Key areas of the role

  • Billing Branch Manager this will lead to a nonbilling role
  • Salary is up to £60,000 basic + commission. This is Negotiable if you can justify it or you are already on a higher basic salary
  • Guarantees can be in place to cover your first 6 months of employment so you don’t miss out on lost commission
  •  7am – 4pm core working hours. There can be flexibility around this to cover, for example dropping children off at the nursery
  • 10-% flat commission + team commission
  • CRM specifically designed for education recruitment
  • Realistic, fair, and achievable expectations. This will be discussed during the interview process and your input will be important in the shaping of any targets.
  • A fantastic HR and HQ support team, covering payroll, I.T, training, safeguarding, sign language, fast track compliance, and DBS.
  • Working from home options. This would come in after a few months as initially, you will need to be in the office full-time working with your consultants, building the brand in the area, going on visits, and learning the CRM and procedures required.
  • An Inclusive culture, it’s not just the big billers that get recognition everybody has an important role to play and get recognised for their contribution.

Although a very established agency the owners do like to informally visit branches from time to time, they are down-to-earth people and genuinely have the company and the employee’s best interests at heart. It’s not a profit-at-all-cost kind of business.

The interview process will initially be a call/teams or chat over a coffee.

If there is alignment then a more formal conversation will be arranged potentially covering, your vision of success, your thoughts on charge and pay rates, how you would build the branch and any support you would need, past examples of your experience working in education recruitment, what KPI’s you feel are important and how you would use them etc.

After the two conversations, a final one will be had with one of the senior people in the business which is normally over video. There isn’t a requirement for you to travel any great distance for any of the interviews they can come to you to make it as hassle-free as possible.
