Sales Development Representative – Education Technology
Fox Search is recruiting for a Sales Development Representative to join a growing education technology business in Nottingham.
This is an opportunity for somebody who enjoys developing new business, building relationships and introducing innovative technology solutions to schools, academy trusts and education organisations.
What makes this opportunity particularly interesting is that you’ll be working alongside an established education recruitment agency with existing relationships across schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.
Rather than joining a technology company with no existing presence in the education sector, you’ll have the opportunity to develop business within a market the wider organisation already understands and works within.
The technology is a natural extension of the existing education recruitment services, offering schools and trusts additional solutions to help manage recruitment, staffing, workforce compliance and expenditure.
An Established Education Recruitment Business Behind You
The associated recruitment agency already works with schools and educational organisations across multiple regions of the UK, providing specialist recruitment services covering:
- Primary and secondary school recruitment.
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Alternative provision and specialist education settings.
- Teachers, teaching assistants and classroom support staff.
- One-to-one tutors, mentors and intervention support.
- Temporary, long-term and permanent education recruitment.
- Multi-Academy Trust recruitment support.
- Leadership and specialist education appointments.
The agency also operates on the GCA framework and has established relationships with schools and trusts.
These existing relationships create opportunities to introduce the technology to education organisations already familiar with the wider business, alongside developing completely new customers.
You’ll be working with people who understand the education recruitment market, the challenges schools face when recruiting staff and the importance of managing staffing budgets and compliance.
This isn’t simply a cold-calling sales position. You’ll have an established education recruitment business alongside you, with existing market knowledge and relationships to help develop opportunities.
The Education Technology You’ll Be Selling
The business develops specialist software designed to improve recruitment and workforce management.
Its products include recruitment CRM technology and a workforce management platform, helping organisations:
- Improve visibility of staffing and recruitment activity.
- Monitor temporary staffing expenditure.
- Manage workforce compliance information.
- Track recruitment requirements and staffing performance.
- Improve workforce planning.
- Reduce administrative processes.
- Manage workforce information more efficiently.
These solutions can complement the recruitment services already provided to schools and academy trusts, giving customers additional ways to manage their staffing requirements.
Sales Development Representative – Your Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, generating leads and introducing the company’s software solutions to prospective customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and approaching prospective customers through telephone calls, emails, LinkedIn and other business development activities.
- Exploring sales opportunities within the wider business’s existing education recruitment network.
- Developing new relationships with schools, Multi-Academy Trusts and other potential customers.
- Building and managing a pipeline of prospective customers.
- Understanding customer requirements and explaining how the technology can support their operations.
- Delivering product demonstrations and presentations.
- Managing prospective customers through the sales process, from initial contact to contract agreement.
- Maintaining accurate records of sales activity and opportunities.
- Working towards individual and company sales objectives.
- Supporting the continued growth of the education technology business.
What Experience Are We Looking For?
We’re interested in speaking with individuals who have experience in sales, business development, recruitment or another commercially focused role.
You should be confident approaching prospective customers, comfortable using the telephone and motivated by developing new business.
Relevant experience could include:
- Business development or outbound sales.
- Recruitment consultancy or recruitment business development.
- Education recruitment or selling services to schools.
- Software or SaaS sales.
- Lead generation and prospecting.
- Client relationship development.
- Presenting products or services to prospective customers.
Previous experience selling software or SaaS products would be advantageous, although extensive technology sales experience isn’t essential.
An understanding of the education sector, particularly schools, academy trusts or education recruitment, would also be beneficial.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- £26,000–£28,000 basic salary.
- Join a growing education technology business.
- Work alongside an established education recruitment agency.
- Opportunities to develop business through existing school and academy trust relationships.
- Introduce technology that complements established education recruitment services.
- Develop experience within the growing SaaS and education technology markets.
- Work with a business that understands the education sector.
- Opportunity to contribute to ambitious business growth plans.
- Nottingham-based position.
Who Would This Role Suit?
This could be an interesting opportunity for an experienced recruitment consultant who enjoys business development but would like to explore a career outside traditional recruitment agency sales.
It could equally suit an established sales professional, business development executive or somebody already working in software sales who wants to develop their career within education technology.
The important qualities are strong communication skills, confidence developing new relationships and a genuine interest in understanding customer requirements.
