This is a key appointment for an independent education recruitment agency based in London.

The role has come about due to one of the founding Directors of the company relocating and thus making a daily commute to London unsustainable long term.

This role involves taking over the helm of an independently owned and financed teaching agency that has been established for 5 years providing schools in London and the home counties with top-quality teachers and support staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody to come into a business and have near full autonomy of how it is run and the direction it will go. You would report directly to the board making the vast majority of decisions and only seeking approval if something would be a massive change to how the company operates or have a large financial cost associated with it.

As operations director working within a smaller agency your duties will transude into all areas of the business, it’s a very meaty role which will keep you busy also enthused in driving the business forward.

The role includes running small desk, sales development, profit and loss, forecasts, marketing, sales drives, internal hiring and firing, mentoring, 121s, compliance, training and developing of staff, overseeing line managers who report in to you, reporting into the board, website design, making sure the CRM is being fully utilised, forecasting and always looking at new way to generate business and incentives staff.

Anyone that can bring any ideas or skills that can help the company move upwards to the next level will have their ideas welcomed and implemented, this is a great opportunity to shape the direction the company will take.

One important aspect is that the company do not want to move away from their ethos and the working environment. Quality over profit is far more desired, they have a lovely team working environment who for each other, teachers aren’t ring-fenced or “owned” everybody chips in and shares the success.

The consultants are allowed a great deal of autonomy, they do have mild KPI’s which are designed more for a loose structure however it’s down to them to priorities their desk and build meaning full relationships with schools.

In the office there are several levels of experience each person with particular strengths and weakness so each needs bespoke training or development, there are many different characters come from far-flung corners of the world making an eclectic mix of interesting people.

As an agency they have in the past typically done the vast majority of their business with long term and permanent supply, due to growth plans the inclusion of more day to day supply has now started taking place which started with the recruitment of two new day to day specialist education recruiters.

Their model is to give constants every opportunity to progress and build a team under them which they will manage meaning several specialist pods covering Primary, Secondary, SEND across various borough and LEA’s.

Any successful person will have a full and comprehensive handover, you will get to know how the company currently ticks and gain some valuable insight from one of the people that has built the agency up from scratch.

If you do have the experience and you feel the right personality then we would love to hear from you, we would only like people that are within a reasonable traveling distance from the office.

The agency owners are financially sound and have earmarked funds for extensive growth plans with the addition of extra staff in their London branch and opening of new branches in the near future, this is an excellent opportunity to be at the start of their expansion and growth plans.

All applicants must have

  • Recent experience in the education recruitment sector
  • Management experience
  • Proven to be able to deliver results
  • Be able to maintain the company ethos they have a friendly and welcoming environment
  • Strong sales skills
